Exodus 36 - 40

In these last few chapters of Exodus, you see the Israelites finishing building the Tabernacle. The people are bringing them so many supplies that Moses they have enough to finish and for them to stop. For me, it just shows that when God is behind what you are doing and has given you the instruction he will give you more than enough. He may be giving you resources or may be giving you the Grace to handle the situation. Just like how God hardened Pharaoh's heart he can soften yours to handle more. Regardless of what it is when God has given the call, he will provide for it.  In chapter 40 of Exodus, they talk about Moses and Aaron fulfilling the instruction that they were given. It was interesting to read that many times they wrote: "Just as the Lord Commanded". At times we get the word from God and kind of do what God asked us to do. Then when what he promised doesn't come we get confused. It's not enough just to hear to word and accept it, we need to do just as...

Exodus 30 - 35

It is interesting to listen to the law of Moses and to know that still today, in some respects, people are still following this law. Thousands of years later. For most Christians, we believe that Jesus was the final sacrifice and no need to follow the laws of Moses anymore but even that was 1600 years difference. Jew of the land followed that Law for 1600 years. It's now easier to understand how when Jesus showed up it was easy for them to not necessarily believe what he was saying. If Jesus showed up today saying what he was saying then, I know a lot of people would be skeptical.  What I found fascinating is that when the people who came to Aaron to build an idol, he didn't even fight them he just said give me your Gold and throw it into the fire and they worshiped whatever came out of it. This angered God so much that he was just ready to wipe them out and start over with Moses. These are the same people who just got freed from slavery watching the mighty works of God...

Exodus 25-29

In the reading for today, God was telling Moses all about how he wanted the tabernacle to be built. It was amazing to me the amount of detail that he went into. For me, I feel like this was far more than just for posterity. I believe that God was showing us that when it came to how and where He would reside, we couldn't do things haphazardly but all things needed to be in order. It was just amazing to hear all of it.   Then in chapters 28-29 he started to explain how the priest should be consecrated and all of the clothes that they should wear. It was interesting all of the things that they needed to do just so that they could enter God's presence. It makes me want to make sure that I don't take advantage of the fact that I don't have to do all that; I need to make sure that I still take the time to make sure that my heart is right and prepared for him.

Exodus 19-24

In my reading today, I read about the Commandments and the Covenant. It was interesting to read about the difference between not Lying and not Bearing a false witness. To me when I was younger I always just thought about them as the same. When you think about it though they are not the same. I think that God was just to cover all the bases that he doesn't like lying. Whether it is a little white lie that may seem harmless or you are lying to a judge or on your neighbor, cheating on a test, making claims about your ability that aren't true, he wants the truth. I know this is hard for me. Sometimes the little white lie seems harmless enough but even though on earth it may not seem like much, we are doing damage and hurt to God.     The rest of the reading was interesting. To hear not just about the 10 commandments but how he goes into much more of the laws of the land. Sometimes it feels like God doesn't care about the small things but when you read how he was laying down so ...

Second Half of Exodus

I am going to be starting to read the second half of Exodus and In the bible study that I have, they usually go over what you are about to read before you read it. I am excited to read this because it is interesting to me that this group of people just watch God perform Miracles that got them freed from slavery and are still complaining. Even crazier, when they can see God's presence right up the mountain they still get frustrated that it's taking too long and create an Idol. This should be an interesting read over the next few days.

Welcome

Hello Everyone, This is going to be a blog post where I post about my Daily bible readings. This is going to be a very informal blog where I just write down my thoughts about what I read for the day. Please feel free to share your thought on my thoughts. Some Days will be more in-depth than others. But this is just a way to keep me accountable. Hope you enjoy it. Darius Regis
